Based in Hong Kong, Television Broadcast Limited (TVB) has been a household name for Chinese language audiences around the world. For over thirty years, it has been producing quality and entertaining programs that have thrilled audiences and defined the television industry in Hong Kong.
Currently, TVB is the world's largest producer of Chinese programs, creating its shows from the biggest commercial television production and operation center in Asia. Our broadcast library now consists of more than 80,000 hours of programming. In addition to our production facilities, TVB's extensive available resources include top-class artistes, singers and technical professionals. Our annual programming production reaches 6,500 hours and they are among the best in the Chinese television entertainment.
With recent developments in satellite and cable television, TVB through its subsidiary, TVB Satellite Broadcasting Limited (TVBSB), launched two new Mandarin language satellite channels, TVB8 and TVB Xing He Channel, in 1998. They offer overseas Chinese audiences exciting new viewing options with round-the-clock entertainment, infotainment, music and dramas. The satellite -- transmitted programming of TVB8 and TVB Xing He Channel is now available to viewers in Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia. In less than five years, TVB8 and TVB Xing He Channel have already established themselves as symbols of excellence.
TVB8 and TVB Xing He Channel were granted permit by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) in 1998. The two channels have since then been providing quality programs to 3-star (or above) hotels and foreigners' unit in Mainland China.
