Astro Chinese Channel, or "Wah Lai Toi", is the first Cantonese

The Asian Entertainment Channel (AEC), a new Chinese
channel available also on the Astro network, started
its service on September 1, 1997 to meet the increasing
demand for quality Mandarin programs from subscribers. Broadcast
mainly in Mandarin language, AEC carries a six-hour block of
programs supplied by TVBS, Taiwan's No. 1 cable channel, as
well as movies and drama series acquired from Taiwan, Hong
