member company in the U.K., the TVB Satellite Channel -
Europe (TVBS-Europe) is the first daytime satellite channel
serving the Chinese communities across Europe. TVBS-Europe is also
the first direct-to-home satellite channel in the U.K. using
advanced digital compression technology in its transmission.
Since the revamp of its broadcast hours on March 31, 1997, TVBS-Europe has revolutionized the viewing habits of its subscribers who can enjoy the variety of TVB programmes in the daytime. TVBS-Europe now offers 17 hours daily of non-stop entertainment in both Cantonese and Mandarin between 10 a.m. and 3 a.m. TVBS-Europe brings a widest choice of Chinese language programmes to its subscribers, such as variety shows, news, current affairs programmes, dramas and talk shows, which are top-quality productions of TVB and RTHK in Hong Kong as well as TVBS in Taiwan.
