Statement
Update on the Acquisition of Free Television Broadcast Right of 2012 London Olympic Games
Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) announces that TVB has been actively negotiating with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the acquisition of free television broadcast right of the 2012 London Olympic Games. It is believed that IOC will soon arrive at a decision.
TVB will make the best effort to acquire the free television broadcast right of the Olympic Games to serve the interest of the public at large. Once the broadcast right is confirmed, TVB will invite Asia Television Limited (ATV) to co-produce and co-broadcast the sporting events and related programmes. These programmes could be broadcast on Pearl and World with NICAM services. Should the broadcast of programmes give rise to any possible Guangdong landing rights issue, TVB is confident that the issue can be handled properly through concerted efforts of both parties.
Should there be any new progress on the arrangement of the free television broadcast right of the 2012 London Olympic Games, announcement will be made as soon as possible.
